My wife visited an area some days ago and the children from the school beside the place she went played ball and broke something on the car.

When their principal came to beg, she told them they should not worry, that so far it’s ball they used to damage the thing, I won’t be angry and so she isn’t as well.

When she got back, that was the first thing I sighted while opening the gate. She just said “they played ball from a school and it damaged that part”. I only replied “oh” and moved on. She smiled and said “I knew it that you won’t be bothered and that’s what I told them”.

I love football gan and I love when children are allowed to play it. Your child can damage anything belonging to me and I will be angry but if it’s football he used to damage it, so be it. I believe every male child should be allowed to play ball.

I grew up in Nigeria. I did all my primary, secondary, and university education in Nigeria ( multiple ). I’ve also interacted with students from institutions outside Nigeria, and I’ve seen how their schools use updated curricula and run internship partnerships with global organisations to give their students a better chance. That’s what I want. That’s what I want to build for @AltSchoolAfrica .
Education in Africa needs to be remodelled for the future we have now. Students should learn in a better way. AI should be built in and accepted, so students know how to use it the right way without letting it replace critical thinking.

This morning, our church hosted a wedding. The groom is 42, the bride is 36; they'd been dating for three years. He'd traveled abroad, did well for a while, then came back to Nigeria with nothing left. Through all of it, she stayed.

Our pastor told them to stop waiting and settle down. So they had a mini wedding during today's service.

Then he announced that everything realised in church today would go to the couple.

Before he even finished talking, people were already coming forward with more.

By the end, the couple walked away with ₦2.3 million, two years' rent paid, and six new outfits each.🥰❤️

Why is no one talking about the way those taxi drivers at the airport bill people??

The first time I used the plane was when I was going to Nysc camp.
I booked a flight from Lagos to Abuja then planned to take a bus from Abuja to Benue.

My friend that stays in Abuja and also camped in Benue told me to budget like 10k from the airport to the bus park.

When we landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe airport in Abuja, I carried my luggage outside. I asked one old man I saw to direct me to where I could get a taxi. The man helped me with my things to the taxi area, I gave him something.

I asked the first taxi driver I saw how much from there to Victoria Travels.
The man said 30k😳😳??

30k as how? Even the bus from Abuja to Benue is like 10k-12k according to what my friend told me.
I was confused but since my friend already told me to budget 10k, I told him I didn't have that kind of money, I asked one girl I saw standing there and she said it's better to just book a ride that she's waiting for her own ride, she asked me what direction I was going but I didn't know anywhere and I think she doesn't know much places too.

I started dragging my luggage outside the taxi area, the driver I asked earlier called out to me and told me to bring 15k, that's when it clicked, that's their strategy, if they suspect you're new, they'll hype the price.
I just told him not to worry, so I waited outside the car pack because I saw some taxis there too.
The first taxi driver I stopped said 17k, I told him I have just 10k.
He said I should pay 15k, I told him I didn't have, he left. One guy was standing beside me, I thought he was also waiting for a taxi but few mins later, a car showed up and he asked me to join them to the front then maybe I'll get a bus there,I was scared so I just told him thanks and he left.
I saw some people walking down, that's how I started dragging my luggage.

Another taxi stopped and asked me where I was going, this one still said 15k, I told him 10k,he didn't agree then he said, "una get money to book flight but una no fit pay 15k for taxi" Omo I wasn't even in the mood to exchange words with him because I no really blame am.
I used my hard earned money to pay for flight and I still had a long way to go so my budget was really tight.
I just kept on walking until I got to the gate.
Then I saw one elderly man, explained to him where I was going and how those taxi drivers have been calling ridiculous prices.
He stopped a vehicle for me, the driver said he won't get to Victoria Travels but one guy and a lady said he can stop me at one place like that, I honestly can't remember the name,I think it starts with a "T"

The driver said okay, he said 2k, the elderly man said ahn ahn, N1000.
I just told him not to worry and thanked him.

Before we got to where the driver was supposed to drop me, the remaining passengers had already come down.The guy that told the driver where to stop me reminded the driver before he got down.

When we finally got there,the taxi driver said the place I'm going to is very far o and I should pay him 7k he'll take me there,he said I can pay N1000 instead of N2000 too so everything will naw be N8,000.
I felt it was good because my budget was 10k but I just told him not to worry.
He came down, opened the boot to bring out my luggage and while doing that, he said "I wanted to help you o, you won't see bus here at all, I said don't worry.
He collected the N1000(this was worth it honestly).

It wasn't up to 5mins after the driver left that I saw another taxi, told him I was going to Victoria Travels,he said okay ,I asked how much, he said N700😳😳😳😳.
Sirrrr???? I couldn't even hide my expression,I asked him again, he said 700, when I entered,the girl I sat beside said,that's the normal price, I think she thought I wanted to price.
Before we knew it,we were already at Victoria travels 😂😂😂.
I was still trying to process everything 😂😂.
I ended up spending a total of N1,700 instead of 30k😭😭😭😭😭.

A South African-linked fintech, Nairtime Holdings Limited and Nairtime Nigeria Limited, part of the Optasia Group, (listed on the SA Stock Exchange with shareholders like Cyril Rhamaposa and other Senior MTN executives) just got a Nigerian court to stop MTN and Airtel from complying with Nigeria's own consumer protection regulator (FCCPC) over airtime borrowing. Their argument? A jurisdictional technicality: that airtime lending runs on telecom infrastructure, so only the NCC can regulate it.

The audacity!

The FCCPC introduced the DEON Regulations to curb abusive lending recovery methods and opaque charges on a market worth up to ₦1.2 trillion annually, built entirely on the financial vulnerability of Nigeria's poorest citizens.

Nairtime, already under investigation by Nigeria's data protection agency for alleged privacy breaches against Nigerians, ran to court to protect its billing access the moment regulation arrived.

Now layer in the context: as this injunction was being filed, two Nigerians were killed in South Africa in fresh xenophobic attacks, Nigerian traders are being told to shut their shops and flee, and NiDCOM warned of coordinated anti-foreigner protests in Gauteng April 27-29.

Nigerians cannot get protection for their lives in South Africa. But a South African-linked company can get interim court protection not just for its revenue stream in Nigeria, but to stop MTN from collaborating or doing business with local fintechs.

The courts will settle the legal question, and I believe the injunction will be lifted once the FCCPC files in court. The policy question is non-negotiable: Nigeria has every right to regulate how foreign-linked companies extract value from its 200 million citizens. More so, it reserves the right to promote competition and policies that ensures local content, stimulate the local economy and keep jobs here.
