@phremakewhen Maybe Wwx relationship with alcohol is no longer self destructive and he truly just drinks now because he's so happy with Lwj that there's nothing harmful about it. Maybe this is the fantasy side of the realness of the rest of the story. 🤷🏻 Up to you to decide.

@phremakewhen Like Wwx I fool myself into thinking that now I have control, that I do it for the good reasons, not the self destructive reason. But at least twice a year, I can't exactly deal with situations and I totally blackout and cringe. Maybe Wwx truly reached the happy ending.

@phremakewhen They drink together, and they feel safe with each other, and apparently Wwx no longer drinks with others or alone?. At least not with the juniors. And if they lose control it's because they want to, and they don't harm anyone else. But I have to say, I'm not sure if it's possible

@phremakewhen It's up for people to decide if this is true?, but many adults fool themselves into thinking that you can drink just for the enjoyment of the taste and the company or the moment with someone. That's why I think Lwj allows Wwx to drink, because he's doing it with good feelings

@phremakewhen Wwx no longer has the same social circle of his youth, the drinking buddies from Yummeng, neither the friendship with NH and JC. He no longer needs alcohol to sooth his pains like when he was the Yilling Laozu, and apparently controls his drinking because he does it to enjoy--

@phremakewhen Is it possible to have a healthy relationship with alcohol after being an alcoholic?. I don't know, sometimes I fool myself. As you can guess, after many years, I never stopped drinking, Im not longer in the "terrible" stages. That is to say, I'm no longer the monster I was drunk

@phremakewhen I think the story show you that in the end, Wwx relationship with alcohol becomes harmless?. It's a problematic and debatable point, some recovered alcoholics will stay far away from it, and they think they will never be able to control themselves if they touch even a drop--

@phremakewhen Wwx got physically clean in the afterlife clinic, and returned to the healing power of love. BUT. As I said, he will never blame alcohol, he see nothing wrong in drinking and weirdly enough, neither does Lwj!, he's a enabler. He gives Wwx alcohol. Also very interesting

@phremakewhen I think that Wwx by the end of the book, is still a semi recovered alcoholic, he no longer uses it to cope or to blackout his problems, because he's loved and he's emotionally healing with the only person that truly can help him and accepts him fully. And he longer hurts psycally

@phremakewhen So Wwx still doesn't blame alcoholism for his problems and his traumatic experiences and he's learning to forgive himself for his actions, but he's also, forgiving alcohol!. Despite this brief panic attack regarding the bathtub scene, at the end, it turns out no one was at fault-

@phremakewhen We can assume that Wwx healed and is on the road to recovery from his mental demons. And his decency on alcohol to cope doesn't exist anymore because now he has someone that heals his aches, and fills all his emotional needs. As I said, the alcohol came after the hurt-

@phremakewhen Eventually the plot resolves, they love each other, and they did what they did not because they were drunk, but because they wanted. However, this is important to me, because I feel Wwx relationship with alcohol wasn't resolved. He will always have this interaction with alcohol-

@phremakewhen Wwx is very scared of his desires and feelings because he doesn't recognize them, and thinks Lwj doesn't feel the same, and in a typical period internalized homophobia, he blames the alcohol for letting the gay free, a gay he didn't know he had inside!. Ha, this is also very real
