@arisroussinos In my native Sweden we say "skrubbsår" ("-sår"=wound) for a wound that is slightly more than s scratch but not that big of a deal. The "skrubb" is here obviously a cognate.
Of course, this is the one thing that we don't have and that our current culture and society seems deplorably incapable of producing. On the contrary, it has for decades celebrated incompetence, vulgarity, consumer capitalism & the cult of stupidity, superficiality & the Machine.
What's needed to restore order and stability to our Western societies is a cultivated elite.
Not an uncultured and incompetent kakistocracy of both the left and right (mainstream and populist).
Hockney was one of the world’s most successful artists, and could have done anything, anywhere. But his late-life art was laser-focussed on the transient seasonal beauty of the English, particularly Yorkshire countryside, his best works drawn digitally on an IPad.
@jennymaria Samma med delar av den radikala vänstern där man ständigt letar efter nya utsatta och förtryckta grupper i ett sorts självupprätthållande av (över)tron på sin egen ideologiska övertygelse.
It's just so weırd how every single thing you're told happens under socialism is happening under capitalism. The bread lines, the unemployment, the authoritarianism.
Shocked to hear David Hockney has died. His huge achievement was to make serious painting look effortless. He carried forward one of the most sustained investigations into vision, space and representation by any post-war artist. British art has lost a giant.
Ger Xitter nån månad till. Blir det inte bättre får det räcka. Mer meningsfullt att skriva dagbok för min själv än att skriva rakt ut i denna döda avgrund. Vilket skit det har blivit sedan övertagandet.
