When I went to the Seattle Art Museum and saw the 'Thousand-armed, eleven-headed Guanyin' for the first time I was really drawn to this piece and was intrigued.

Widely known to be the goddess of compassion and mercy. I was reading different descriptions and stories about this deity. Guanyin is also a Chinese name for Avalokitesvara so some websites associate her with either name.

It is said that the Thousand armed, eyed and eleven-headed Guanyin was transformed from Avalokitesvara who made a vow (to never to rest until he had freed all sentient beings from saṃsāra) but despite the efforts of saving infinite sentient beings it was not increasing or decreasing, and so she slowly decreased her efforts and broke her vow.

And as a result she split into ten pieces and her body shattered. Her root guru Amitabha used his powers and transformed her into Thousand armed, eyed and eleven-headed Guanyin.

She has 11 faces: 3 bodhisattvas (one who seeks awakening), 3 faces of wrathful, 3 faces of both the bodhisattva and ghost, 1 rear face of fierce, cruel, and laughing, and 1 top face of buddha.

She observes with her thousand eyes and protects with her thousand arms. The multiple arms and head signify her infinite powers and immeasurable reach. Which means she is equipped with infinite strength and dharma power and has countless methods for saving sentient beings. She is able to perform calamity eradication, subjugation, enrichment, magnetization, and wisdom enhancement.

Some believe that when one of their adherents departs from this world, they are placed by Guanyin in the heart of a lotus and then sent to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

Reading all this and seeing how the statues and pictures are designed, it made me think of the C.S. Joseph lecture clips of Ne (Extroverted intuition; Water) and Si (Introverted Sensing; Earth). People with these cognitive functions have the ability of prescience because of the 'single point of origin with unlimited possibilities'.

Devotion cannot be forced.

It arises naturally when you realize that there is something much greater than you, all around you.

And once that "realization" is active in every instant, then devotion becomes a way of life.

Because you feel loved, you then will want to gift something back.

But it's not an obligation or contract.

Therefore you create a "loving kindness" chain!

The best way to start?

Perform "Random acts of kindness and senseless beauty".

ON GIFTING with wanting something back

First of all there is nothing wrong with gifting and wanting something back.

It's natural and okay and if it makes the world a better place, who cares?

Second let's understand what happens:

This is true for philosophies and spiritual tools, as for people.

If it leads to more love, how could it be corrupt?

If it leads to less love, how could it be good?

I thought of it as one is communicating to others their thoughts or feelings, or in this case, a bad feeling of a situation.

Inner knowing and communication is different, so I understand now.

@journey_hr @Playboysparadox If actions and words are being directed towards me I think to myself ‘what are my intentions if I say or do this next’ and if it's not a situation or person I want to entertain then I don't say or do things that will lead me down that path anymore or jeopardize my integrity.

@VivaldiVril I have some friends that are set on getting extensive work done, like their mind is set to it. They are beautiful already who get a lot of attention. I know everyone has the right to do what they want. Ultimately it's their choice. Nothing I could say would change their mind.
