VACANCY: CHIEF PRESS SECRETARY
A Local Government Chairman in Lagos State is seeking to appoint a highly experienced and result driven professional as Chief Press Secretary.
The successful candidate will serve as the principal media and communications adviser to the Chairman and will be responsible for managing public communications, media relations, digital engagement, and the overall public image of the administration.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement strategic communication plans.
• Manage media relations and serve as liaison with journalists and media organizations.
• Draft press releases, speeches, statements, and official correspondence.
• Coordinate publicity for government programmes, projects, and events.
• Manage social media platforms and digital communications.
• Oversee graphic design, content development, and multimedia production.
• Monitor media coverage and provide timely communication responses.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and community groups.
• Advise the Chairman on public perception and communication strategies.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication Arts, Political Science, English, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in media, public relations, strategic communications, journalism, or public affairs.
• Strong understanding of traditional and digital media.
• Demonstrable experience in social media management and content strategy.
• Working knowledge of graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, or related platforms.
• Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working with public office holders, government institutions, political organizations, or corporate executives will be an added advantage.

The Presidency has dismissed reports linking the Office of the Chief of Staff to a purported organisation operating under the name “Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.”
Chief of Staff to President Femi Gbajabiamila clarified that no such office exists within the current administration and no appointment has been made in that regard.
The statement stressed that members of the public should disregard the claims and avoid engaging with individuals promoting the alleged entity under false pretences.

Military Operation Frees 360 Boko Haram Captives in Borno
Security forces have successfully secured the freedom of 360 people, mostly women and children, who had been held by Boko Haram insurgents in the Mandara Mountain region of Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State.
According to reports, the operation was driven by intelligence gathering and followed the large-scale surrender of some insurgents. The rescued individuals were said to have endured severe hardship and difficult living conditions during their captivity.
Authorities described the development as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore safety to communities affected by insurgency in Nigeria’s North-East region.
Investigations and rehabilitation processes are expected to continue as the victims receive necessary support and care.
