Tim Walz just announced he won't seek re-election as Minnesota governor, and his daughter Hope is explaining why on a podcast.

Hope said her dad decided to step away to "get that target off of Minnesota."

She added that Walz believes if he's out of the race, Trump and his supporters will have nothing left to go after.

"He has that national profile. Trump just hates him for some reason.

I think it's because he's everything Trump will never be."

Hope's framing this as her dad taking one for the team, sacrificing his political career to protect Minnesota from further scrutiny.

Whether stepping down actually removes the target or just looks like retreat under pressure is another question.

Walz governed Minnesota for years. The fraud happened on his watch.
