Dear Artist @Broda_Kenny, thank you for your feedback.
Yesterday’s flooding was largely a flash flood triggered by several hours of intense rainfall. As is typical with flash floods, water levels have since receded in many affected areas. However, we are aware that some individuals are attempting to exploit the situation to advance a particular agenda.
Our priority remains the safety and well-being of Lagosians. We will continue to monitor vulnerable locations, respond promptly where necessary, and implement measures aimed at protecting lives and property while improving the state’s flood resilience.
Thank you!

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has issued a final warning to illegal occupants and structures on the median of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, announcing that a large-scale demolition and clearance operation will begin next week as part of efforts to restore order and improve environmental sanitation.
Speaking to journalists during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise at Itire Road in Surulere Local Government Areas of the State, the governor said the government would no longer tolerate the illegal occupation of the road median, describing it as an abuse of public infrastructure and a threat to the ongoing reconstruction of the highway.

Yesterday in Berlin at the Humboldt Carré, I had the distinct honour of serving as a speaker on a high level panel at the 2nd Berlin Climate Mobility Forum 2026, joining an extraordinary gathering of global leaders dedicated to forging a global consensus on climate mobility. Our panel, Protecting Rights in the Face of Sea Level Rise, placed me alongside H.E. Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, H.E. Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef, Vice President of the Republic of Maldives, H.E. Seidu Issifu, Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Tania Serafim Yvonne Romualdo, Permanent Representative of Cabo Verde to the United Nations and co-facilitator of the UN Declaration on Sea Level Rise, and Hon. Luca Salvetti, Mayor of Livorno. It was a powerful reminder that the climate crisis does not respect borders and that coastal cities, whether in Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, or the Pacific, share a common and existential threat.
I took the opportunity to present the Lagos reality clearly. Lagos is one of the world's most exposed coastal megacities with millions of residents at direct risk and the possibility of large scale displacement if decisive action is delayed. The disruption of a city and economy of this magnitude would have serious consequences for Nigeria and far beyond the African continent. I made it known that Lagos is already integrating sea level rise projections into our urban planning, drainage masterplan, and environmental governance framework. We are not waiting for disaster to arrive before we act. But we cannot do it alone. I called for genuine coalitions, localized climate finance, technology transfer, and direct partnership between vulnerable cities and global institutions because the front line of climate change is urban, it is coastal, and it is now.
Lagos is ready to lead, ready to partner, and ready to build the resilient future our people deserve. The journey to a #CleanerLagos is inseparable from the journey to a climate resilient Lagos and both are central to the vision of a #GreaterLagos
“Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.”
This theme underscores the critical importance of water and sanitation as continental governance priorities and key drivers of economic transformation, climate resilience,
This is noble and exemplary civic duty. The RATEL movement members voluntarily came out to participate in the re-introduced monthly sanitation exercise, clearing a heap of refuse dumped behind a school fence in Alimosho. This is commendable.
We are set for the monthly environmental Sanitation commencing today. Do share your cleaning activities with us by using #LagosSanitationExercise#CleanerLagos or tag @LasgMOE for a retweet.

@tokunbo_wahab Hon. Commisioner we are currently facing a siege from the noisy generators of a new FM station beside my Meiran home. It’s so bad that the vibration has cracked our fence wall and torn apart our POP ceiling. We have complained to LASEPA. Pls help, this is an SOS!
This is a lot to unpack.
The positives from this executive order-: Raises federation account accretion significantly. We are looking at >N1 trillion more annually.
The executive order also improves the ease of doing business for oil companies by eliminating a lot of duplicitous taxes .
This executive order will block leakages and loopholes of retaining federation revenue under the guise of “revenue collection cost”.
This Executive order further squeezes NNPC , demanding efficiency especially from Onshore production.
More forex to the federation account means more forex supply to the market which will further improve Naira.
The government is also concerned about the conflict of interest with NNPC as the concessionaire of offshore assets especially with setting operating cost. This signals that an amendment to the PIA is imminent. FG wants NUPRC to take over as the concessionaire for offshore assets. Lesser cost oil = more revenue to the federation.
A lot more to unpack
Thank you for your feedback, @OGUNSOLAPopoola
Over the past two years, we have planted more than 20,000 trees across Lagos through LASPARK. Tree planting is a long-term commitment. These are not projects whose impact becomes visible overnight; they take time to grow and mature. I encourage you to follow @LASPARKLagos on social media to keep track of ongoing greening and landscaping efforts across the State.
Regarding wetland sandfilling, the Lagos State Government has issued a clear directive stopping illegal sandfilling activities. Our enforcement teams are actively taking action against individuals who continue to violate this order. Stop-work notices have been served, and monitoring is ongoing.
We understand that the responsibility rests with us, and we are fully committed to ensuring that the right steps are taken. At the same time, we urge residents to play their part by reporting infractions and protecting their immediate environment. A cleaner and safer Lagos requires collective effort.
Thank you!

Allah – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep
Today, I delivered the keynote address at the Africa Climate Finance Day (ACFD) 3.0, and the message was direct; Lagos is on the frontlines of climate challenges, and resilience is no longer an option. It is an urgent responsibility.
Over the last months, we have taken bold steps to match vision with action. We developed the Lagos Climate Action Plan, the Lagos Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan, and the Lagos Climate Finance Plan in partnership with global bodies including the UK Government, C40 Cities, and KPMG. We have also launched the Lagos Climate Investment Opportunities Diagnostic to translate climate ambition into bankable projects in priority sectors like waste management, transport, energy, water and the built environment.
We are already collaborating with global institutions such as the World Bank, AfDB, UNDP, UNEP, the Green Climate Fund and others to unlock climate financing at scale. And we continue to deepen engagement with local and international private sector partners because public resources alone cannot close the climate gap.
Lagos is ready.
Ready for investment.
Ready for innovation.
Ready to lead Africa’s subnational climate movement and build a cleaner, safer and more resilient city for over 20 million residents.
The work continues.
