That's bc it LITERALLY is.
American work culture is designed to make employees codependent with management.
The ideal worker is someone who treats the company's goals as more important than their own needs, who feels guilty saying no, who views overwork as a virtue...
😬😬😬
As we saw with Silicon Valley Bank
The first step of securing a bailout for poor risk management and financial decision making is…. Framing as an “existential risk” to “all of society”
We “can’t afford to go backwards” (therefore you must subsidize my losses)
We are in an age of intellectual decline. We at at the peak of the French Revolution where society intentionally destroyed & killed intelligent people while prioritizing pure idiots. & We all know the result of that. We are living in absolute hell. Coming across genuinely intelligent & capable people is more rare than coming across a leprechaun riding a damn unicorn. But finding it seems like finally seeing light at the end of a never ending black abyss of a tunnel.
Just off the top of my head it makes it more likely that cancer will kill me or a loved one because his wealth led directly to cancer research being cut
Careers and the economy became a giant game of "wait your turn" the second boomers took power everywhere at 30 and they've spent the past 50-60 years making sure their turn lasts forever or that those who get it next are incompetent to the point it kills everything.
I basically think the average voter is pretty wrong on:
1) Nuclear power (it's good)
2) Foreign aid (we spend very little on it and should spend more)
3) Climate change (a majority say they're not willing to have any additional amounts of their tax money spent on climate. The national average willingness to pay for things that help with climate is ~$300 per year)
4) Immigration (I think it's broadly good across the board, and definitely good to get more high skilled immigrants specifically)
5) Price controls in general (bad!)
I'd like governments to patiently nod along to voter concerns but quietly approve more nuclear, spend more on foreign aid, pay way more on climate, and allow at least more high skilled immigrants. I just flat out think it's wrong for politicians to have 1-1 similar views to the median voter and sometimes they need to diverge.
While things have gotten significantly worse, more punishing with less hope of recovery, it’s also worth nothing that everything correlated with abuse as a child has been increasing in the general population pretty much continuously
ok but the only reason women’s clothes (and dresses in particular) have functional pockets these days is because millennials made a big deal out of it. like i cannot impress upon you how 90% of women’s jeans never used to have pockets you could put anything in. JEANS ffs
