His name was Christian Zedig a 32-year-old Swedish off-duty police officer and father of two young daughters.

He was in Copenhagen for the World Cup, watching the matches in a fan zone at Islands Brygge.

While Norway vs Ivory Coast was on (just before Sweden-France), a group of 7-8 immigrants arrived looking for trouble. They began provoking Norwegian and Swedish fans, throwing beers and starting fights.

Christian, wearing the Sweden jersey, stepped in to calm the situation. He was punched hard in the head, knocked to the ground, and brutally kicked by several of them.

He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. His wife later posted that he was in a coma and she was preparing to say goodbye.
Copenhagen police have identified the main suspect and released his photo, he is still on the run.
