ANGAT BUHAY PUSHES LOW-COST CLASSROOM SOLUTIONS AT SENATE HEARING
Angat Buhay Executive Director Raffy Magno presented the organization's position on addressing the classroom shortage in public schools during a Senate Committee on Basic Education hearing on August 12, led by Sen. Bam Aquino.
In a social media post on Wednesday, Magno cited Department of Education data showing a backlog of over 165,000 classrooms nationwide, forcing some students into shifting schedules that start as early as 5:45 a.m. or end late in the evening. He stressed that the shortage affects not only learning but also the safety and well-being of students.
He highlighted Angat Buhay's cost-efficient model, in partnership with AGAPP Foundation's SILID Pangarap project—a one-storey, two-classroom facility for early grade learners—costing ₱800,000 to ₱1 million per classroom, compared to ₱3.5 million or more for government-built projects, while maintaining quality and durability.
Magno urged policymakers to clear systemic obstacles and commit to ensuring every child has access to a safe and functional learning space. He credited the group's board, led by former Vice President and Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, for inspiring the organization to uphold high service standards.

'SHE WAS NEVER A SINCERE DEPED SECRETARY'
Kabataan Partylist Rep. Raoul Manuel asserts that Vice President Sara Duterte's resignation as Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) demonstrates her lack of genuine concern for the education sector from the start.
Clarifying this now: The issue is NOT about the SOGIE of Harry Roque or whatever the relationship with De La Serna is (literal ba keber). The issue is why we, taxpayers, are to shoulder this kind of unwanted hiring.
