10 minutes drive around city at night in my open world driving game.
The night lighting has been greatly improved, and the streets are much more crowded and bustling. The city view from the outside looks really beautiful (at least to me). Turning on some music and taking a stroll around to soak in the relaxing vibe of the day off is just wonderful.
P.S: The light reflection on the cars is a bit weak, making them look pretty dark, but I'll try to fix that soon.

@kevgarly yeah players can stop by to gas up and rest there (time skip). Tried to keep them pretty sparse and tucked under the desert dust layers so they feel a bit mysterious kinda like those abandoned house clusters out in the desert in GTA San Andreas
The desert in Drive Wild: Fields is not empty anymore: cactus gardens, mesas, a rock arch, a lit diner and motel, windmill ranches and tumbleweeds rolling with the wind. All sparse on purpose. #gamedev#indiegame#driving#godot
Nine sea stacks off the island coast: pillars, mushrooms, twins and a sea arch you can sail through. Swash foam, spray, seabirds, and a photo album to fill. #gamedev#indiegame#driving#godot
Replaced my flat grass cards with real geometry blades: about 80 triangles a clump, wind in the vertex shader, canola and cosmos fields that change with the season, and grass that springs back after a car. #gamedev#indiegame#driving#godot
Making an open world city in the Godot editor is uncomfortable. To make the open world city more fun, I built a small editor to help, making it easier and faster to create a huge world for my driving game.

@corhoonx Thanks for sharing! I always wondered why devs build custom tools, but working with Godot finally made it click. The editor is easy to use but UX & performance aren't great. Building a world-building tool that feels like playing a game is genuinely cool though.
The desert sand sparkles now. Thousands of tiny facets only flash when they mirror the sun into your eyes, so the glitter twinkles as you drive. Pixel size fade keeps it from aliasing.

Butterflies five species, one draw call, flying and landing on flowers in the vertex shader. They scatter when you drive close.
