I finally watched Project Hail Mary… why did no one tell me that it’s so molecular biology n chemistry vibed !!
ik the book’s been popular but as someone who prefers reading textbooks n not into space movies this was so wholesome n warm
@ICONOCLASTIAE@elvenfay@pinkcellgirl metaphor.🤦
‘starvation’ as in ‘im starving’ as in feeling deprived of something,, not ‘im gonna die of malnutrition’
come on man.😭i dont even think ppl need sex at all
@sweetenuke@impactgumi@Water9Old Sorry ur kinda the dense one here. The point was that fetus is unproblematic in comparison to r**ard n alien bcs it’s BOTH a current medical term and has never been used as a slur.
Similarly, ‘alien’ has been neutral in legal writing but is now considered dehumanizing🗣️socially.
@elvenfay@pinkcellgirl 1. good sex that your body wants
2. yeah ig it’s a general relationships thing
3. communicate and respect e/o’s boundaries; while a lack of s3x can feel like starvation, the same also goes for lack of emotional and non-sexual support
4. sure yeah that works
@goatmelon1@clementine0o0 Exactly.😄And should be noted that OP’s post likely arose from a discourse abt ‘wedding ending’ trend in BL media.
Neither ur life nor art need to be a revolutionary statement. But for someone analyzing things from a sociopolitical POV, those inevitably contribute to status quo.
@PatriciaRu9017@isgaldemsugar@TranscendentEva Kinks and fetish exist across all gender n sexuality grps. You know plenty of even cishet people have them.
Yours is a non-argument and adds nothing to this sub-convo.
@dayaoiwizard@ppwpng No. We’re witnessing different views of what ‘progress’ is. Liberationists are just a more radical anti-system grp compared to assimilationists.
But real progress (e.g. in the AIDS Crisis) have been achieved often with the 2 grps efforts adding up in tandem.
@ppwpng “heteronormativity” can feel insulting (implying we depart from queerness, approaching conserv).
But ultimately it’s just abt how the Liberationist approach is still necessary hand-in-hand with Assimilation.
Simply, always question the structures that we’re demanding access to.
@themisdivinee Assimilationists: bcs of rowdy liberationists, they’re more palatable to society/gov so that lawyers n lobbyists of this grp excel at immediate reforms
@themisdivinee just want more varied (+ queer-accurate) rep in media, especially for those grps that r still excluded from ‘respectability’.
TLDR
Liberationists: protect the most vulnerable, radical protests, pressuring to dismantle structures, but rarely ever getting policies passed
