2019 TISS where I was extremely conscious of my identity, trying to fit in the mainstream every day. Now my identity as a Kurukh, Junglee, Adivasi is my armour. This identity gives me a fresh perspective and approach to any work I do, sets me apart and gives me leverage.
'मैं अपनी जमीन दूंगी नहीं और तुम्हारा पैसा लूंगी नहीं। इस धरती पर मैंने जनम लिया है। इस धरती पर मुझे गाड़ देना, लेकिन मैं हार नहीं मानूंगी। मैं अपनी जमीन किसी को नहीं दूंगी।'

We junglees are the oldest surviving race as we can adapt, we learn from our mistakes and work on our weakness, till it becomes our strength, and we improvise every day. if you stop me and suppress my voice, you’ll hear my brothers and sisters roar.
The civilised said bows and arrows are primitive and barbaric, but we junglees still hold on to it. We have learned your tools of oppression- reading and writing as you didn't acknowledge our oral tradition.
And we are using your tools of oppression to fight oppression, violence and injustice faced by our people. We are still using bows and arrows, just the form has changed.
Dikus telling the story of Bastar because apparently Bastar lives in them, because Adivasis are only good enough for their data and "experience". A mere props in their talks and research, with endless tokenism.
Adivasis will live and die in Bastar but won't ever have a stage.
Since it's inception, Auroville has strived for a moneyless society. It's latest experiment, a virtual currency, is emblematic of the rocky economics of Auroville itself: a work-in-progress marked by numerous attempts at renewal. My story for @scroll_in.
