Why Do So Many Indians Achieve Excellence Abroad, but Not Here in India?

Meet 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝘆𝗮 𝗧𝘆𝗮𝗴𝗶, an Indian-origin student who has cracked a 𝟭𝟬𝟬-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿-𝗼𝗹𝗱 mathematical puzzle at Pennsylvania State University.

It is indeed a historic breakthrough by every measure.

But the question is: why couldn’t this genius thrive or achieve the same milestone here in India?

And Divya is not an isolated case.

📌Data shows that over 𝟳.𝟳 𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 left India to study abroad in 2023 alone, a record high.

📌 That’s more than 𝟮,𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 leaving every single day.

📌 Even more concerning, many of them never return.

Why?

Because students believe foreign universities provide 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 and 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿-𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

And they’re not entirely wrong.

📉 According to the 2024 global rankings, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 features in 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝟭𝟬𝟬.

In contrast, the 𝗨𝗦 𝗵𝗮��� 𝟱𝟲 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 and 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮 ��𝗮𝘀 𝟭𝟯 in the same list.

Yet, these issues barely make it to our headlines.

Instead, the common citizen is distracted with 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗽 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗯𝗶𝗲𝘀, and 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗽.

💡 As 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁 reminds us:

"This is why there’s an urgent need to raise awareness and educate the public.

We must ensure that critical issues like education are not just included in electoral manifestos, but also become 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 demands that hold leaders accountable.

Because until the common voter starts caring about these issues and demanding accountability, they will never get the attention they deserve."
