➡️Mass Grave:
Evidence suggests a mass grave with at least 550 unmarked graves, many freshly dug and some containing multiple bodies.
This is potentially the largest makeshift burial site discovered in Sudan's ongoing civil war.

➡️Detention Center:
A previously unknown detention center was found with signs of torture, including manacles, punishment chambers, and bloodstains.
Rescued detainees reported torture, starvation, and deaths of fellow inmates.
Doctors who examined survivors found widespread evidence of torture and chronic malnutrition.
Accusations against the RSF:
The RSF is accused of torturing and killing hundreds of people and burying them in the mass grave.
HRW considers the site potentially "one of the largest atrocity crime scenes discovered in Sudan since the war started."
The US has accused the RSF of genocide.

The Sudanese military recaptured the base in late January.
Satellite imagery confirms the graves appeared after the RSF took control of the base in April 2023.
The Sudanese army is also accused of committing serious atrocities against civilians.
The international criminal court is investigating abuses in Darfur.
