I disagree with that passage of your article that suggests @POTUS@WhiteHouse@SecRubio@realDonaldTrump
may have backed down due to geopolitical interests or merely because of a commercial bargain involving rare earths, Maduro’s Venezuela, and similar factors — and that he should therefore come forward publicly and clarify his motives.
I disagree for a fundamental reason: this argument would only make sense if the U.S. government had absolutely nothing to do with the chaos, disorder, and destruction of institutions and democracy inflicted on Brazil. If the Biden administration — through the actions of the U.S. government, the CIA, and USAID — had not interfered, destabilized, and actively contributed to the institutional collapse Brazil is experiencing, then Trump could legitimately say: “I have nothing to do with Brazil. This is your problem. I am the President of the United States, not the President of Brazil.”
But that is not the case.
The corrupt, reckless, and morally bankrupt Biden administration did interfere. Through the CIA, USAID, and other instruments of influence, the U.S. government played a direct role in creating the current Brazilian mess.
Given this reality, Trump does not have the luxury of detachment. There is no legitimate “disengagement” available to him now.
Because the damage was caused by the USA itself, the obligation to fix it also lies with the USA. “MEGA NEGOTIATOR” Trump, as president, inherits not only the power of the office, but also its responsibilities. He is therefore not free to treat Brazil as an external problem or as a bargaining chip in commercial or geopolitical negotiations.
In short, Trump is not merely invited to act — he is obliged to repair what the U.S. government broke. Any attempt to frame his retreat as a matter of optional strategy, trade-offs, or diplomatic convenience ignores this central fact.
