When the first turn fails, teams need a trace, not another prompt tweak.
I’m building Aywa Runtime to make that path inspectable inside a private runtime on your own infrastructure.
The $/min headline matters, but the bigger question is who owns the call path in production.
If the runtime is private and BYOK, teams can choose their STT, LLM, TTS and telephony, see the real cost per call, keep control of data and avoid platform markup on minutes.
That is where I think voice AI is heading.
This decision tree is exactly where the market is going.
I would add one more branch: hosted orchestration vs production-grade private runtime.
Once teams care about data path, provider choice, true cost per call, logs, telephony control and operational ownership, the runtime itself becomes the product boundary.
