We have started our reps meeting with a minute silence for #GeorgeFloyd, the global Black community, and those who experience police brutality and racism. #BlackLivesMattter

After 4 of the government’s scientific advisers have broken rank to criticise the government’s plans, we urge head teachers to consider delaying this further.

Even June 15 would reduce the risks by half.

We are writing to all Lambeth heads and NEU members to communicate this.

NEU reps, working with their headteachers, have done fantastic work pushing the opening date back.

But many still plan to open next week. We are asking heads to reconsider 1/2

The government wanted every primary school to open to full classes of Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 from Monday.

Out of 60 primary schools in Lambeth, ZERO are doing it.

I've never been more proud of @LambethNEU.

Lambeth NEU have worked with Cllr @EdDavie on plans to reopen. Schools should only reopen when it’s safe, the @NEUnion’s #FiveTests are met.

This could mean telling Heads that school cannot open
