Simple pointers for straight men entering this sensitive discussion of sexism and homophobia in esports:
-Acknowledge that you're part of patriarchy's history of oppression.
-Respect the anger of minorities.
-Know your limits as a straight male. You did not suffer first hand.
Sexism and homophobia in esports has a long history, but that doesn't mean we can't make the future better.
Again, I strongly suggest esports orgs in PH to invest in social and gender sensitivity classes for players & staff.
Change begins with education & realization.
when we acquired veewise in blacklist and before they transferred to the bootcamp, we identified derogatory/offensive remarks that shouldn't be said ever . we wanted to do better and create a safe space especially for the two. we oriented the backend and also the current players.
