One way to build self-confidence is to learn to look people in the face when speaking to them. Maintain relaxed eye contact during conversations instead of constantly looking away or down at the ground.
The more comfortable you become with maintaining eye contact, expressing your thoughts and holding conversations without feeling intimidated, the more confident you become. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but keep practising until it becomes natural.
My Worst Lagos Nightmare: The Third Mainland Bridge Test
That was easily my worst day in Lagos, and my absolute worst fear coming to life.
We had gone out for a regular cruise, heading right onto the longest bridge in Africa the dreaded Third Mainland Bridge. But barely as we climbed onto the start of the 11.8-kilometer stretch, disaster struck: nature called, and it was screaming urgently.
Panicking, I leaned forward and confessed my situation to the Bolt driver, begging him to find a toilet for a quick rescue.
The driver was a nice guy, but he shot me a reality check: I had to hold it in because we still had a long way to go, compounded by the usual brutal Lagos traffic.
There I was, sweating profusely inside an air-conditioned car, while Kola and Soteria were completely unbothered, busy catching cruise, chatting away, and making videos, while I was dying in absolute silence in the back seat.
By some sheer miracle and divine intervention, I managed to hold on until we finally made it to a mall in Ikeja.
Never again 🤣
