I read through the post, and I just sighed.
He could have just apologized, announced his retirement, and just move on.
But as usual, the social media has always been his tool, and in recent times, where he makes his best statements as opposed to making them on the field, demanding all sorts, putting your personal expectations above the team's success, dishonoring and disrespecting your nation, teammates, and fans, and ultimately, became a symbol of chao and division to both your national team and nation, where you're most idolized, and a team where you're the captain and expected to be a leader, but you still had to bring the same issues that's already synonymous to your personality on the club level to your national team, something that shouldn't have ever happened if you had careful thoughts about your decisions and actions, and if you truly had any form of consideration and respect for anyone else but yourself...
He still had to overshadow the whole message with the same self-gratification that led to the whole issues in the first place...
Because, what do you mean a player of the stature of Pele and Maradona?
Does he know anything at all about what those people did and meant to their nations?
None of them was highly spoken about and idolized because of Copa America or club level success, those were just part of their greatness, they are know for their heroics at the biggest stage of the sport at a time where there was no social media or fan base as we have today, yet, they because national icons and have their Legacy spoken decades later such that people like us who never got to watch them, heard about them and felt closure as though,we watched them play...
What spectacular thing has he done for Portugal on the biggest stage of the sport, and what did he even do at the '16 Euros except for being the teams captain that won't eh trophy, to make him rate himself alongside Pele and Maradona on a national level?
He played in the same era as Messi, and a certain Mbappe, even Yama, already have a better Legacy than him when it comes to the national team, because he couldn't even lead the team past a quarter finals stage at the world cup, and never put up any praise worthy performance on the biggest stage, except for scoring a hattrick against Spain to earn a draw, yet, he's chatting to legends who singlehandedly won their nations the world cup.
And he carefully chose today of all days, thinking his news will overshadow Messi's farewell, and carefully invoked the names of Pele and Maradona to further drag traffic, content creator par excellence ๐๐คฃ๐๐คฃ
He desperately wants to be Messi so bad, but he's not, and will never be treated the same, not now, not ever... The Respect, such as Messi's is earned, not shoved down people's throats by demands, not by media propaganda, and definitely not by social media warrior's agenda and fanbase war.
At 41 years of age oo, nawa oo.
If we had Messi,we wouldn't dare call anyone else the GOAT...So, why would anyone who already has Messi call Ronaldo the goat,when clearly,he's nowhere near what they already have.
Mind you, is Rooney not our clubs greatest goal scorer? Isn't he a former teammate of Ronaldo? And hasn't he been a fan of Messi, even while he yet wore our badge?
The heritage of football is beyond bias, and as such as you might want to lean towards Ronaldo by affiliations to ManUtd, you have to be honest about the fact that's evident to every football lover... everyone has a right to their opinion and no one will dictate to you whom to idolize, but denying the obvious isn't wise.
Ronaldo is clearly great, a ManUtd great, a footballing great, the 2nd greatest of his generation and maybe the 4th greatest of all time, but trying to draw a comparison between him and Messi will never make sense, even to you, when you look at all the facts...so, acknowledging Messi's Greatness and identity with that doesn't reduce my position as a ManUtd fan, nor does it take anything away from Ronaldo, if anything, he should be grateful and honored to be mentioned alongside Messi, because there are not much names mentioned alongside him.
And trying to push an agenda that Ronaldo is even remotely close, let alone better than Messi, is a dead on arrival kind of shit, as proven time and again by everyone ever tried that and failed, even the man himself, and he was thoroughly beaten per performance throughout their clashes as rivals, and as one ManUtd fan to the other, I'm telling you now, mate, back down and dead that shit...it's definitely too late now, Dr. LM 10 ๐ is far gone๐๐๐ฝ๐ช๐ฝ๐๐ฝ
You've got to be braindead to reason like this... arguing with such low IQ people will drive you nuts...
I mean, if not that we wouldn't like to be selfish, even the goal we decided to attribute to him which he'd nearly kill himself and drag everyone down to achieve a thousand goals, Messi who has never been a striker and has been the greatest chances creator in football history still beats him on goal ratio, while playing well over 100 matches fewer than him.
Let's even remove all the trophies, is it mvp awards, or perfect rating awards, or dribbles, dribbles oo not cultural dance, what exactly does Ronaldo have except goals to leverage on, some of which are owed to fraudulent PKs mostly won by mastering the art of diving?
@Emil0kan Old habits die hard๐คฃ๐๐คฃ๐๐คฃ
A certified culprit here...except now, I no dey thief am again, I dey chop am with a straight face from my wife's pot, and no be only ponmo oo๐คฃ๐๐คฃ๐
It sucks that Messi retired on international level because its obvious he's still got it, but at the same time I'm so glad we will never see him in a bad state on a football pitch after he's way past it. Nobody will have a memory of him like that, he will always be this mythical athlete who never declined until his last day
@Joshua__Ubeku I read those things and all I can think of is that, It's not normal, I think he might be losing it....
Because what level of madness would make anyone put up something this crazy and ask another to publicly admit to and say them about him, how?
@Prema_Chinweze Very on point... The cheeky comment doesn't even cut it, he's now become a joke of a character,and that's sad.
Just a simple opinion and observation;
I believe that "Hate" is such a strong word...and I think, maybe you'd like to rephrase.
Thank you.
Heโs actually sick man, the worst part about Ronaldoโs arrogance is that he genuinely wants people to feed it, itโs so different from Ibrahimovic where he clearly doesnโt need validation from anyone to keep doing it, and itโs rather comical than a beg, Ronaldo genuinely thinks everyone owes him adoration and applause
