„dicke mit jemandem sein“ (lit. „be thick with someone“) means you’re very close with someone, so calling someone „Dicker“ means bro. the harsh ck-sound in „Dicker“ naturally shifts to a softer „g“-sound over time, thus: „Digger“ is born.
