Harvesting a NCGA corn contest entry I found these bad boys today near Mount Joy PA. #tarspot of corn. A new disease here in PA with potential to significantly reduce yields. If you have any green tissue remaining, check your corn and notify Penn State Extension

Natural soil fumigation with the steam from the old steam tractor. A fairly common practice in the Amish community. Carrots will be seeded in this field on Monday!!

Just certified a 133 bu/a #wheat yield in Mt Joy, PA. Congrats to a Daryl Martin! a Field of Chemgro seed wheat.

At first glance this #barley field near Manheim looked like serious #head #scab. But on closer examination it was frost damage. Other end of the field had none and is about 20’ higher in elevation!!

Received a call about some uneven Barley. Found Winter Grain #Mites and English Grain #Aphids, however at fairly low levels. Did see some yellowing. Perhaps they were vectors for a viral disease??

Mudded in a seed treatment test plot Wednesday afternoon before the big rain. Smart? Dumb? Will see if the fungicide improves emergence and final stands!
