Foreign students are now declaring a hunger strike to demand Canadian work permits.

That is not how immigration policy should be decided.

A study permit is not a guaranteed pathway to permanent residence or employment. Rules must be clear, consistent and applied equally..not rewritten under pressure.

A B.C man states he was detained by the RCMP for a Regina event he tried organize on Facebook. The event was supposed to be a pork BBQ outside a new mosque in Regina’s downtown which had recently made national headlines for their outdoor call to prayer. The Facebook event went viral and The National Council of Canadian Muslims called on leaders to, “Denounce this event and to acknowledge that this form of Islamophobic intimidation is dangerous.” The BBQ never ended up taking place.
