Huge series win for the Nats in Baltimore.
Another brilliant response with the walls caving in a bit. Consecutive wins on the road and they came after another blown lead in the 9th.
Luis Garcia carried them. 6 HR week and 3 in the last two games. 7 for 10 in two wins in BAL.
Luis García Jr. has recorded his 6th career multi-homer game. This is also his 11th home run of the month of June.
García Jr. is the 7th player in Nationals history (2005-pres.) to record a double-digit home run month and the first since Kyle Schwarber hit 16 in June of 2021.
Ryan Zimmerman - April 2017, July 2012, Sept. 2013
Bryce Harper - May 2018, May 2015, Sept. 2015
Alfonso Soriano - May 2006, Aug. 2006
Juan Soto - Aug. 2019, Aug. 2020
Adam Dunn - May 2009
Kyle Schwarber - June 2021
Massive hit for Daylen Lile. That’s the guy you want at the plate in extras, given the contact skills. Nats are up 4-3 entering the bottom of the 10th. Justin Lawrence set to make his Nats debut.
Regardless of how this ends up going — I love sticking with Foster Griffin to start the 7th at 98 pitches.
He’s rolling. He’s been using top starter. Your bullpen has been bad. Give him a shot to keep chugging along.
I have no words.
The Phillies scored five runs in the 9th off Gus Varland. Two long home runs.
Three straight days. Each day the Nats have gotten up off the mat and slugged their way to leads like nothing happened. Only to be demoralized by late-inning bullpen collapses.
Per MLB Network Research:
-Cristopher Sanchez began the day with the 4th lowest ERA in MLB (1.80)
-Sanchez has allowed two earned runs or fewer in 14 of his 16 outings this year
The Nationals scored 4 runs off Sanchez in the bottom of the first, raising his ERA to 2.12.
The unwavering resilience of this Nationals team is incredible. They always respond.
Awful blown game in SF; bounced right back. Debacle Tuesday; jumped out to lead Wednesday. Nightmare 9th last night? Pounced on arguable the best SP in MLB this year for 4 runs in the first.
Trae Young extend.
4 years and $212M is a big price tag, but $75M less than the Wizards could have given him. Seems like they paid him the max he could have gotten from another team, which makes me think there was interest outside of DC.
