Built around one thing: honest pitching development.
This thread breaks down what’s inside.
No hype. No promises. Just the truth.
Griffin Jax is figuring it out as he moves down the Clay Holmes Road, from the bullpen to the role of starting pitcher.
Start 1: 2 1/3 scoreless
Start 2: 2 2/3 scoreless
Start 3: 4 IP, 2 ER
Start 4: 5 IP, 0 ER
Start 5, last night: 5 IP, 1 ER

Sam McWilliams sat 97-99 and struck out the side yesterday. He put up a 32% strikeout rate in 2024 (AAA) with an average fastball velocity of 96.0.
Across Mexico this year:
- 22% swinging strikes
- 40% whiffs
- 24% K-BB Rate
- Strike % in high 60's
Has added CT + Sweeper.
@xwOBA_enjoyer@RobertStock6@903124S Would be curious if you added curveballs / sweepers and just the breaking ball family (no cutters) how much it would jump compared to just using sliders
Interesting stat that someone showed me yesterday.
Munetaka Murakami in night games: .348/.456/.773 (1.229 OPS)
Munetaka Murakami in day games: .123/.284/.354 (.638 OPS)
It’s hard to explain why there is such a drastic difference.
Sam McWilliams: near-immaculate inning in Durango last night. 8 straight strikes before pitch 9 missed.
Finished off punching out the side a few pitches later.
Game was in Durango which sits ~6,200 ft (nearly 1,000 above Coors.)
97 FB, slider high 80s, new cutter at 93-94.
Andre Jackson gem!
His final line: 7.0IP, 116P, 1H, 12K, 4BB, 0ER
Andre Jackson tossed his NPB high 12 strikeouts, and only allowed 1 hit against the Eagles! What a performance!

1/ What Sasaki was throwing previously fits more in line with a forkball.
What he's done now is actually add a traditional splitter.
Spin rate has doubled 500→1000, velo +6 mph, release tilt shift to 2:00 for a more consistent backspin and side spin feel at release.
The middle finger is much higher up and not strictly curled, less wedged, more regular release.
The ability to command this now has actual upside in non-2 strike counts. 🧵
Roki Sasaki changed the orientation of his splitter last night. #Dodgers
6 mph harder, 4" less drop, 6" more arm-side movement. Spin was up ~400 rpm. Zone rate was 42% compared to 29% on prior shape.
Will talk about this in my Substack tomorrow AM: https://t.co/a0dGf7jK3c
