Truth telling in the Deep South can be tricky business, but actor Mason McCulley doesn’t hold back as he tells his story both in LA and his hometown, Birmingham, Alabama. I had a blast interviewing him for this profile. I hope you have a moment to read.

A reminder for any writer who is feeling like they haven't done "enough" this week:
You don't have to hit your target word count for your work to matter.
✅ Writing 200 words counts
✅ Cutting a scene that wasn't working counts
✅ Brainstorming why your protagonist makes that choice counts
✅ Taking a walk and getting inspiration for a new scene counts
✅ Coming up with a new title idea counts
✅ Closing your laptop because you need a break counts
Those small steps count. ALL of them.
And they will add up.

I don't want a city on Mars.
I don't want AI in every app.
I don't want data centres in space.
I want clean water.
I want a stable climate.
I want bees to survive.

“Writing is more than creating language and story. It also involves the creation of the self. Writing is about who we were and who we are becoming. It’s a succession of leaps and small brave acts. It’s about what we carry and what we lay down.” Sue Monk Kidd
