If I had seen this tech shift a few years back (though honestly, I don’t think anyone could have predicted it), I probably would never have stepped into engineering management.
Living in Colombo is becoming increasingly expensive food, transport, rent, and daily living costs keep rising. But the TAX system remains uniform across the country, not reflecting these urban cost pressures. This creates real pressure for city-based earners.

Repeating cycle of the optimistic voter:
1. Full faith in and praise for the whole parliament
2. Slowly realizes problems, faith remains only in the president and one or two “rockstars”
3. Things hit a personal pain point
4. “Go Home ඔක්කොම එකයි” moment
So, the last day with HSBC. Like many professionals, it was my first credit card too. Just after university, having an HSBC card felt like a status symbol. But honestly, glad they went away. I faced some of the worst customer service with them. NTB was superb in comparison.
Thanks to the Coal Scam, Colombo Streets have officially gone dark again mimicking the 2022 crisis. Remember, a there wasn’t a single day where street lights were turned off when @RW_SRILANKA was President.
RW will go down as one of the best leaders Sri Lanka ever had.
Church and clergy have no business campaigning, endorsing parties, or steering votes. That’s not ministry, that’s politics. Ordinary people carry the weight of bad policies: tax hikes, electricity tariffs while institutions often stay cushioned.
Ah yes… having “passion” = getting drunk and singing, screaming on trips, and flexing taste on social media 🎤
Meanwhile, actually understanding music, technique, and being able to perform live on stage… whole different league 🙂
