Lantern Festival

The Victoria Park Lantern Festival takes place on the last Saturday of July. A full day of activities & entertainment ending with a fire show & lantern display.

A number of people have been wondering why there was no Friends of Victoria Park Lantern Festival this summer.

Due to the loss of some core volunteers, along with other factors, we were unfortunately unable to host the Lantern Festival in 2023.

The Friends of Victoria Park/Lantern Festival are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend & park neighbour, Rick Boland. Rick was charismatic, funny & extremely knowledgeable; we learned so much from him. Condolences to his family, friends & peers in the arts community.

This is a rebuilding year for our organization, but we hope to return next year!

We will be seeking new members & dedicated volunteers in the Fall to help us plan next year's festival. If you are interested in joining our organization, please email us at [email protected]

@TedBlades @CityofStJohns The Victoria Park Lantern Festival is actually organized and run by the Friends of Victoria Park, a volunteer-driven, non-profit, community-based organization. We receive support from @CityofStJohns and other local businesses and organizations to put off the festival. 1/2

If you, your business, or someone you know have any extra FLASHLIGHTS, GLOW STICKS, BATTERY-OPERATED LIGHTS, ETC. that you can donate, please email us at [email protected], or drop your donated lights down to the Victoria Park poolhouse any evening this week!!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!! Due to the fire ban in the St. John's region, we are unable to light our beautiful lanterns with candle tea lights (as we normally do for the Lantern Festival).

Because of this, we need to quickly find alternative methods of lighting our lanterns on July 30.
