“Immigration is being used to push the far right agenda. Communities are struggling & feeling excluded. Innocent people are being targeted. Government must start by addressing the housing crisis that affects all communities.” Doras CEO on @morningireland https://t.co/WyWrFizfIU
A really lovely evening in Rathdowney library to open the art exhibition celebrating Refugee Week in the town.
Rathdowney is a superb example of a town that has embraced diversity & is experiencing many positive benefits as a result. The turnout tonight is testament to that.

“I’m a hardy lad, the rain wouldn’t bother me.”
It is a wet start to the National Ploughing Championships in Co Laois, but the rain is not dampening the spirits of the people who have been there since the gates opened this morning.
@IrelandAMVMTV@TommyBowe @MuireannO_C Any chance @IrelandAMVMTV could donate Wellingtons from the ‘wellies throwing’ this morning to @LaoisNetwork for Ukrainians in in #EP site in Stradbally. Please send private message here 🙏🏼
However … we continue to need your support. Children & families are in tents in Stradbally (#EP site) &

Thank you to everyone who attended last night’s volunteer meeting in #Stradbally and for the numerous messages/calls since too. An incredible response to the call out for donations/kindness/good will - we expected nothing else. #Love always prevails
We are running volunteer information events over the next few weeks in Edenderry, Dundalk, Birr and Portlaoise to find out more information on how to support older people by volunteering.
Our Portlaoise event will now take place this Monday the 28th August.
At the heart of the famous Durrow Scarecrow Festival in Laois there is a group of dedicated volunteers, this year helped by Ukraine women living in the village.
