If, or should I say when, the current status quo changes in Uganda, we’ll have to live with its proponents.
Besides the very few members of the ruling elite who can flee the country, the vast majority of its supporters have nowhere else to go. Uganda is our only home. They, and their families, will be here.
It therefore behooves the supporters of the current establishment to take a long-term view, and to educate themselves, that patriotism is not a forced love of the country, but our ability to accommodate each other in our diversity - knowing that power is transient, a revolving door - and that our collective security lies in our abilities to accommodate each other.
Today’s Muhoozi’s are tomorrow’s Malyamungus (Amin’s dreaded henchman), today’s Birungis (now Otto -the (in)famous CMI) are tomorrow’s Rwakasis or Buturus (Obote’s vicious enforcers).
As Martin Luther King Jr. said, we must learn to live together as brothers (and sisters) or perish as fools.
THANK YOU UGANDA FOR STANDING WITH ME!
Five days of hell but you still stood for the truth, for freedom, for justice and for a better country!
Thank you my President @HEBobiwine and everyone that put together every piece of effort and prayer to realize my freedom!
Thank you!
@FredShaka Sandhurst does not publish the exam scores of its cadets or their graduation ranking.
They are kept confidential by the British Ministry of Defence.
So, saying Muhoozi was among the "top-performing cadets" is propaganda aimed at peasant societies in Kiboga or Kiruhura.

you guys really think we're stupid. Anyway, since we can't prove it yet, let us be stupid. But the truth will come out.
Leading Kenyan lawyer and former Justice Minister Martha Karua has been blocked from entering Uganda and ordered to return home, according to the Uganda Law Society. https://t.co/jRSTfPio7m
I visited my sister Martha Karua following her unlawful detention and subsequent deportation by Ugandan authorities together with my fellow leaders Hon JB Muturi, CJ Emeritus David Maraga, Hon Eugene Wamalwa, among other leaders.
What transpired is deeply troubling and sets a dangerous precedent for our region. The arbitrary denial of entry to a respected leader and Senior Counsel is not only an affront to her dignity, but also a direct violation of the principles that underpin the East African Community, including free movement, mutual respect, and democratic engagement.
We must not allow the continued shrinking of democratic space within our region to become the norm. Today it is Martha Karua, tomorrow it could be any voice that dares to stand for justice, accountability, and the rule of law.
I strongly condemn this act of political intolerance and call upon all citizens and residents of our region to stand up firmly for the rule of law, defend democratic space, and reject any actions that undermine our shared freedoms and unity as East Africans.
We stand in full solidarity with Martha Karua and with all those who continue to champion a just, open, and democratic East Africa.
This evening, I paid a courtesy call on Senior Counsel and PLP Party Leader Hon. @MarthaKarua at her home to express my solidarity following her ordeal in Uganda earlier in the day.
Also calling in were Hon. @skmusyoka, Hon. @HonJBMuturi and @profkagwanja.
There can be no meaningful East African Community if citizens performing their professional duties are harassed or barred from moving freely across the borders as permitted by the Treaty.
As counsel for political prisoners Dr Kizza Besigye and Hajji Obeid Lutale, @MarthaKarua has every right to access her client in Uganda.
We call on the government of Uganda to uphold the rule of law and respect binding treaties of the Jumuiya.
I don't know who needs to see this, but Isaiah 60:22 says, "When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen." So relax. You're not behind, you're not forgotten, and you're not late. God's timing is still working in your favor.
"It’s clear that Besigye will not get justice in the Ugandan courts."
PLP Party Leader Martha Karua says Ugandan authorities are yet to provide official reasons for declaring her persona non grata.
While acknowledging that Kenyan Ambassador Ababu Namwamba reached out, Karua accused Nairobi of complicity.

When big people fall sick, they start giving us the impression that if they are treated in Uganda they risk dying! What are they actually telling the rest of us!
Sad, Makindye Chief Magistrate Sarah Basemera has sent a frail @EriasLukwago back to Luzira Prison. Her action shows a change of heart because she is the one who schedulled the ruling today. It appears she will need clearance from the @KagutaMuseveni family. Add this to the denial of entry into Uganda of former Kenyan Justice Minister @MarthaKarua; all happening today. Mind you, we have set aside billions of shillings for embassies to promote Uganda’s tourism. But these are the scenes from Uganda on international media. What a contradiction. Cry my beloved country!
A ten-year-old boy walked into a computer store in Recife, Brazil, and politely asked to use one of the display tablets.
The salesperson handed it over. Instead of playing games, the boy sat down with quiet focus. He pulled out a worn notebook and pen, carefully copying notes from the screen.
Intrigued, the employees asked what he was doing.
He replied softly: “I have a geography assignment due tomorrow. We don’t have a computer at home… and we can’t afford one. This is my only chance to study.”
The security camera caught the entire moment. The video went viral.
When the store owner saw it, he didn’t hesitate. He gifted the boy a tablet and full internet access so he could study without limits.
The world isn’t fair. Some are born with every advantage, others with constant barriers not from lack of effort or talent, but from circumstances.
Yet sometimes, one act of kindness cuts through the inequality and changes everything.
Interesting that the author of this story, @EdgarMKaruhanga doesn't mention Muhoozi or his abduction of Lukwago, Eddy Mutwe etc anywhere even when he owned up to them! Somehow, Edgar writes of arrests and “ALLEGED abductions”. Yet, the piece is supposed to be about recent concerns of democratic decline, and increased military overreach!
In the end, the conclusion is mostly that Uganda’s biggest problem is opposition disunity. Our man, @JacobsOSeaman, this isn't helpful reporting of events playing out in the open. A teaspoon of bravery, the kind you and @SamsonMKasumba keep demanding from the western media reporting about Gaza would come in handy! Or, perhaps injustice and how it is reported is only your business when it isn't Ugandan lives involved?!
