In 1999, the Supreme Court ruled (thanks to Lois Curtis) that people with disabilities have the right to receive services in the most integrated setting that's appropriate to their needs. A right to HOME and community. We've got a lot of work still to do.

The U.S. Surgeon General's recent advisory on our country's loneliness epidemic highlights how social connection is as essential to our health as food and water. The great task of this century is rebuilding genuine connection. L'Arche offers a piece of the solution.
