There’s a lot to celebrate this #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth in addition to Native Americans’ role in making history in this year’s election! In 2020, we have achieved victories in the courts, expanded our representation across culture, and ended the use of an NFL racist mascot.
My students re-wrote the lyrics to, “Truth Hurts” by @lizzo, and made it about the environment. @LaRonimo shot the music video for us. We raised over $1,000 at our #Australia fundraiser night, and all of the money is going towards a non-profit rehabilitation center. #Portland
Since 2011, the two have collaborated to create a one-of-a-kind style of raw and impactful short films and music videos that speak to today’s issues and topics, specializing in telling indigenous stories in modern media formats.
@LaRonimo is Warm Springs/Wasco/Paiutte. He grew up on the Warm Springs reservation and is currently pursuing a filmmaking career in Portland, OR.
@TheIsaacTrimble is Apache/Yaqui. He is a well-known and respected Native American flute artist and film producer in the Northwest.
