People who attack Palestinians for choosing the poppy as a symbol should see the blooms on the remains of Burayr, a Gaza district village erased by Haganah units in 1948 its inhabitants murdered in their homes or as they fled in terror to what is now the Gaza Strip.
If it makes you feel better to frame it that way Jake but it is in fact a picture I took of poppies blooming on top of a massacre site at the erased Palestinian village of Burayr about ten miles east of the Gaza Strip fence. You can find it on pre 1948 maps if you want to check and you can find Burayr survivors/descendants in Jabaliya refugee camp, tho it will be hard as that too is now erased.
Jason Alexander says he feared visiting Palestine as a Jew until 10 Palestinians protected him during an Israeli army raid in Ramallah
“How much of a risk would I be taking as an American Jew walking into Palestinian cities? And Mohammed said, ‘The greatest dishonor that could happen to a religious Muslim is to allow harm to come to an invited guest’”
“And he said, ‘Jason, if they had to, they’ll take a bullet for you.’ And what was so interesting about that trip is, we were having lunch in Ramallah with a bunch of actors and artists at a sort of outdoor restaurant”
“And the Israeli army was conducting a raid on a bank that they thought had terrorist ties a couple blocks away. And they must have, to announce themselves, just shot into the air. And I remember 10 of those guys at the table surrounding me. And I went, ‘Oh my God, he wasn’t kidding. They’re not going to let me get hurt’”
This is big.
The UK’s National Security Advisor had nothing to do with banning Palestine Action as terrorists.
Even though the question of terrorism is at the core of his job.
So who did push the proscription of Palestine Action?
The walls are closing in.
Ed has never threatened the Labour Party with non-cooperation for facilitating and enabling a genocide, arresting pensioners for holding signs, or overseeing new restrictions on the right to peaceful protest... despite being the Party of civil liberties. Why is that?
Seems to me the whole political establishment is telling on itself. A motion is a red line, but genocide isn't.
To be clear: both the Lib Dems and Labour are saying that they will refuse to form a coalition with the Greens, even if it as the expense of a Reform or Tory government, because of a Green Party conference motion condemning a political ideology that’s led to genocide?
Really?
This is really quite shocking from Shami Chakrabarti. "This foolish motion" is what the vast majority of Palestinians believe.
Perhaps she could explain to them how it is that she - miraculously - came to understand their own lived experience better than they do.
If you want to debate tactics and strategy, fine. But that's not what she's doing.
Coming from a member of a party that has materially assisted the wholesale slaughter of small children for the last 3 years it is frankly obscene.
Just once, I’d like the BBC to centre a Palestinian whose family has been displaced and slaughtered in the name of zionism, instead of someone whose feelings are hurt because a British party called zionism, a racist ideology, racist.
It's genuinely baffling that the UK government can smear the Greens as a party of antisemitism for passing a motion calling Zionism racist, and then very next week post statements condemning the racist ethnic cleansing of the West Bank by Zionist illegal settlers.
This is mental.
It is completely and utterly mental.
This should literally be illegal.
It is not unreasonable to ban politicians from being broadcast journalists FFS
Getting blown up by a Russian drone to protect my beautiful nation of privatised water companies, boarded up shops, cracked paving, and political-media class who think I’m a racist because I oppose a genocide.
No thanks mate.
God dude shit like this lights my soul on fire. Never give into their framing. Never back away in the face of their overt bigotry. Talk them down and reveal them as the hateful morons that they are!!!!
Approximately 12,000 Palestinian Arabs volunteered to serve in the British military during WWII, fighting in mixed or separate units alongside Jewish volunteers from Mandate Palestine across Europe, North Africa, Greece, and France.
Gobsmacked that Peter Bradshaw says likening what’s happening in Gaza to the Holocaust is “specious” then says it’s more like Dresden. Dresden was THREE DAYS, and killed 25,000. What has happened to seemingly intelligent people?
To be clear: Some facts are neither in dispute nor unclear. Our photographer was clearly marked as Press. She was clearly beaten. These are not partisan or risible statements, but indisputable. We urge a thorough investigation and accountability.
Interesting perspective for the “try being a Jew in Ramallah and see what happens to you 😈” crowd: a 65 year old Jewish American journalist being treated with care in a Palestinian hospital after being beaten nearly to death by Israeli Jewish settler terrorists. Makes you think!

@JewishChron ".......is not something a cinema chain should do on a subject this sensitive."
A cinema chain can do whatever it wants without the approval of Zionist organizations that support genocidal atrocities.
