Jackie Robinson Day! In honor, here's an iconic Ozzie Sweet high-angle view of #42 sliding into base. It was 1951, and fans rarely got up-close views of players, so Ozzie propped up Jackie on a lift and had him lay perfectly still, allowing razor-sharp focus. Sport cover: 10/51.

When Ozzie and worked on our book of Mantle images, I spent lots of hours trying to identify the catcher here. Ozzie insisted it was a model. I kept thinking it was Johnny Blanchard (1933-2009), and even contacted him about it. Turns out Ozz was right!

An Ozzie Sweet classic of the underrated Jackie Jensen, an All-Star outfielder. Jensen hit .279 with 199 HRs, 929 RBI, and 143 SBs in just 11 seasons. He topped 100 RBI 6 times in a 7-year stretch (1954-1959), falling just short (97) in 1956.
