In a Liverpool by-election 12 March 2026 the Tory got just 8 votes (Greens won). Was it the worse result in the city for a mainstream candidate. When I arrived in 1970 the city was Tory run. Soon after almost a century of Tory rule ended. The last Tory lost his seat in 1998.
So sad to here of the passing of Lady Doreen Jones. Lady D, alongside her late husband Sir Trevor ‘the Vote’ Jones, were a dynamic duo @LibDems in Liverpool politics for some 30 years before and after the turn of the 21st century.
Drama on the lake Monday at #Liverpool#SeftonPark to rescue an ailing swan. Team from #WWRwings (Wildlife&Bird Rescue) reached the sickly gosling. Meant one of the all-female team had to go into the water to reach her. Hope she quickly recovers to rejoin her family on the lake.
Here’s a photo of the family of swans, two adults and five mature goslings on #SeftonPark lake. Let’s hope the ailing gosling recovers from her illness and returns to the family, well done #WWRWINGS for rescuing the young female swan.
Playful seal in the Mersey early Saturday evening, off Otterspool Prom near to Grassendale end. So close to the prom wall its snorting could be clearly heard. Nice to see sealife returning to the river….

And if Larry the No 10 cat screws things up will people flock to Downing Street chanting Moggie,Moggie,Moggie….Out,Out,Out. Hope Larry has more (political) lives than Boris
@GeorgeYHC@KarenWhelan19 The trust management, if it wished to, could lay down circumstances when tickets should NOT be issued, ie in this case. It used to be known as common sense, but I they passed a law outlawing common sense. There should be a staff rep on the trust board who should get this sorted
@angusenyo Introduce prohibition on the parliamentary estate, no booze, not even a sniff of communion wine and hire an Eliot Ness figure to police it. It’s a workplace not Westminster Speakeasy, and raid Boris’s Booze Joint up at Number 10. Let them drink water🚰
Maybe #Uefa, the result of the #LiverpoolFC vs #RealMadrid game should be voided and replayed as far away as possible from #France. The chaos must have had an impact on and off the pitch. Oh, and France should not be allowed to host an international game for 10 years (at least)
@SkyNews Why didn’t Rigby simply ask a follow up question to Hancock…’if it’s over, why are thousands still dying in the UK.’ It’s as though there’s an official vow of silence
While we are all told by #BorisJohnson we have to ‘learn to live with #Covid’ some of us are having to learn to DIE with Covid. Covid toll reported on official dashboard Wednesday,April 13 = 651 deaths in one day. Unlucky for some hey! Life’s no party…..
@JujuliaGrace Chancellor Rishi Sunak told LauraKuenssberg on BBCnewcast that coronavirus is ‘behind us’. Hours later #ONS reported around 5 million of us in the UK have the virus (1-in-13) Around 20,000 are in hospital. Is it really behind us?

Latest figures show sales of the print edition of my old paper #LiverpoolEcho is 20,158, a 14% drop over the last set of figures. When I joined the #LDPE the daily circulation was in the hundreds of thousands, and it was a must in most homes. How long will it survive, I wonder.
