I almost cried, as this old soldier doesn’t get thanked too often – not that I need to be – but I am eternally grateful to President Biden for having me present.

I was so honored to be invited by President Biden to the signing of the CHIPS Act yesterday, Tuesday June 9, at the White House. I was startled and surprised to be invited to the signing ceremony by President Biden.

This came about, I believe, because when I was in the Senate I was Chairman of the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, and as such sponsored some legislation that led to the CHIPS Act being signed into law.

Meeting with four current Rhodes Scholars after a speech I delivered at the Rhodes House in Oxford, England on Tuesday July 5. I was so glad to meet with these promising young people. In particular, I enjoyed talking to Leah Crowder, whom I hope will seek elected office some day.
