My role comes to an end Jan 1. Anyone need a programming generalist with 20yrs experience, and an knack for getting technical messages out through video?
I'd love to help a company that's doing something interesting with developer relations.
(But I'm open to other roles too.)
This argument is still as true now as it was then--our programming tools should both enhance our understanding of our code & communicate that understanding to others. When you're done with a session with a debugger, what's left?
@gryzzly One thing to try is writing. Write down a detailed problem statement, assumptions, what you tried, why didn't work. The process itself could unveil a solution. Or, you'll end up with the material you need to let someone else help you. Which is the second thing I would recommend
The Xerox PARC archive is now open for you to explore! With nearly 150,000 unique files, the archive covers an astonishing landscape: programming languages; graphics; printing and typography; and much more. Find all this and more on our site: https://t.co/O0EpnNkdK8
My new collection, SLEEP AND THE SOUL, is now available. You can get it as an eBook from most venues, or as print-on-demand from Amazon.
This collection includes the story “Solidity”, a current finalist in the Locus Awards for best novelette of 2022.

Xerox PARC researchers developed technologies for the “office of the future,” yet took care to back up their work. CHM will make a large digital archive of this historic work publicly accessible. Get updates: https://t.co/UCXKSwZjg4 (Photo courtesy of the PARC Library.)
@DmitryMatveev Two things in particular felt very good: the entire idea of "programming in the debugger" and how easy it is to create a minimal interface to run the main procedure (I mean that "Render!" button and the image in the screenshot: you can see the implementation in the Playground)
@JavierBurroni Thank you, I will probably have a look later. But no ambitions with mine, really: I just wanted to see how far and how fast I could go starting from scratch
@GuillePolito No. It's just something I quickly put together today as an experiment. It's a few lines of code and the rendering model (so far) is naïve to say the least
Untitled maze game
Presented at @racketfest the game shows how to use Sketching (A Language for Creative Coding) to make a retro style game.
Try out the game, make a new level and submit it to be included in future versions: https://t.co/AkyqItfPtd
Ed Catmull. John Warnock. Jim Clark. Alan Kay. Ivan Sutherland. Martin Newell. Just a handful of #UofU alumni who revolutionized computer graphics and have shaped & aided countless industries.
For the first time ever, they'll be reuniting on campus.

We know how to talk about programming languages, but how to study programming systems? Find out in the interactive version of our @programmingconf paper on technical dimensions! https://t.co/C00imPFbUm
