Texan, writer, board gamer, bicycle rider, aro ace, and beer drinker, currently working on my urban fantasy novel "Introduction to Necromantic Theory."
Started the short story idea over and it turned into flash fiction. I'm pleased with the result, actually. I'll let it sit for a month or so and then go back over it before I decide what to do with it. #amwriting
@writes_jo I start with the major points (I subscribe to three-act, so I have each of the big fails and then the finale), and kinda fill in from there. I usually have ideas for the smaller stuff between, sometimes I know exactly, and sometimes I just wing it.
@waynekilkenny@instagram I am on insta, but not for books. I cannot begin to grok how to use insta for books. I get the "pretty cover" shot, but I don't have a pretty cover and I won't have enough to have an author insta that's just pretty cover shots all the time.
Didn't like the way the short story was going, which is less a problem with the idea and more a problem of my not knowing how to write short stories.
I have an idea how to fix it, but I may just get back on track with the novel instead. We'll see how I feel tomorrow. #amwriting
@KelloggsUS@glaad How about you show some support by not trying to monetize our goddamn identities?
Surely ya'll got some spare change you can donate without trying to sell us ourselves in a cereal box.
And I'm distracted again by another short story idea. I'm letting myself get away with it because it's fun and I know I'll get back to the rest of the story once I'm done. Maybe I'll do something with it, or maybe it'll just collect dust on the hdd. #amwriting
@APaulWrites I was supposed to work in the yard or work on the beater bike, but then a friend reminded me that it was board games at his place day, so I did that instead. :P
Whoof. Between having the plumber come out to the house and randomly going out during lunch today, I have barely written a damn thing. But even a little progress is still progress. #amwriting#writerslife
@katelmcampbell I'm not normally a chapter title person (too reminiscent of children's books), but I'm tempted to do some really weird chapter titles for my WIP.
For example:
"Al Otro Lado, And I Don't Mean Mexico"
"They Both Wear Earrings, But Aside From That They're Nothing Alike."
@jlburrowsauthor The scene where one character is afraid he's about to get murdered by his roommates and the necromancer has to reassure him that no one's going to kill him because that's not going to solve the problem.
Unfortunately for them all, one roommate doesn't get that memo.
I've spent most of today wondering what they thought about that.
Clearly it's my house. I took my sneakers back inside. I went inside to get my checkbook. I yelled at the cat. The car looks like it's mine. But I drove off in the bigass truck instead.
Had some plumbers come over today to take care of a leaking water main. I was at work and on the bike. Boss offered his huge truck (crew cab, full bed, giant glass rack in the back). So I drove it home.
I'm tinkering in the garage when they arrive and it stays open the whole time they're there. My little blue car is inside. They finish up, I give them a check, close the garage door with the car inside, get in the big fuckoff truck and drive away.
