This Independence Day weekend, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department proudly encourages all residents to celebrate the freedoms we cherish safely, responsibly, and united as a nation. As we honor our country’s founding, let us protect the land we love. Southern California faces increased wildfire risk this summer, with dry brush, soaring temperatures, and strong winds creating dangerous fire conditions. The Eaton and Palisades Fires, which devastated over 37,000 acres and claimed lives and homes earlier this year, remind us of the importance of vigilance. To help keep our communities safe and preserve the beauty of our homeland, please follow these essential DOs and DON’Ts: DO: Celebrate America’s birthday at a professional fireworks show Keep pets indoors and calm during loud festivities Report illegal fireworks to your local non-emergency number DON’T: Use illegal fireworks — they’re dangerous, unlawful, and a wildfire threat Mix alcohol with fireworks or drive under the influence Looking for a fireworks show near you? Visit: https://t.co/4FZFIFKRTT or https://t.co/PdS3d8lcWh (https://t.co/YEFtFLvHGk) Let’s honor this great nation with celebration and care for one another and the land we call home. Stand proud, stay safe, and have a fire-free Fourth of July weekend.

Peace Officers answer a call to serve and protect. They are courageous and often sacrifice sleep, their health, and those special holiday moments with their families to protect our community. Some have even made the ultimate sacrifice giving their life in the service of others.
