The haunted narrator wonders if the 200-ft. cliffs that serve as a backdrop for his waterfront town, holding its inhabitants under a spell of alcohol and apathy, might also be to blame for his friend's daring, final bet. https://t.co/rDAOr1b5gK
@ELEL_28@cwebbonline Illiterate is when someone like my autistic son can't learn to read. Aliterate, not to be confused with alliterate, which is pronounced differently, is when someone has the ability to read but doesn't.
@AbbyKuppin1@blasphemerius@Acyn This admin is erasing even more negative American history again. Edison + the U.S. were awful and inhumane toward N. Tesla. We were denied his wonderful inventions, except for the ones Edison stole, claiming they were his own. And yes, Fort Lee, NJ was the original Hollywood.
@Acyn Again, why would Iran want to nuke Los Angeles, the ONLY U.S. city with the LARGEST IRANIAN-AMERICAN POPULATION? Didn't djt think that wouldn't make sense?
@smc429 Makes NO sense why Iran would bomb the ONLY U.S. city with the largest population of Iranian-Americans. Going on 11 years of djt bashing California.
Donald Trump’s remarks were dangerous — if not treasonous — putting a target on two of our biggest cities and one of America’s largest naval hubs.
I am directing the State Threat Assessment Center to actively monitor the situation in the event that foreign actors interpret the President’s remarks as an invitation to target California.
@dcherring Hammer of the Gods book says after they were the New Yardbirds they changed Lead Zeppelin to Led so that "thick Americans" wouldn't mispronounce as leed. I always liked this song and "Heart Full of Soul," but yet another song w/ wrong printed lyrics. https://t.co/cQrufUfxga
I love TCM, Christopher Lee + Sam the Sham. A few years ago, some higher-ups decided for us that there was no longer any interest in old films, but the public fought to keep the channel. I remember this was TCM's 1st Halloween ad during Covid: https://t.co/eQBoDNCTyH
@MonicaDrie Reminds me of AAA not able to give direcs. to our friend's one-room cabin in 1970's Baker, West Virginia. We slept in the car till morning, since there were no streetlights, only hard-to-read mailboxes at the end of dirt roads, waking to a pumpkin field not visible in the dark.
@Colonel_Myway My furry grandson, Giuseppe, wearing a bear hat. He passed at 19. I miss him every day. My daughter has since rescued two sweet Poms who both hate each other. Ha ha.
@JillSweden1 As Canada honors Truth and Reconciliation Day today, possessing empathy is one of the most admirable yet expected qualities a country's leader should have <3
@AzPetrich I read that nuclear power plants take and reuse from bodies of water to cool reactors but in the process kill the marine life because the recycled water when returned has then been warmed. Also, I guess aircraft using bodies of water for fire-fighting can't recycle it.
My daughter rescued a Pom almost put down bc he didn't like to be petted. He's very sweet + comes to my door a lot, barking once for a treat. My daughter privately tutors a young girl and showed her the Pom's photo on her phone. After seeing it, the girl drew this great art:
@IvyGri I already told my daughter I don't want a funeral, but if I had one, even though I like James Taylor, it would be Jackson Browne's "For a Dancer."
@1918Moonsh17670@LucifersTweetz Yes, yet no one has explained why in '96 we bought our 1940's bungalow w/ guest house for 350,000.00 + in 2026, w/ minor repair, now equals 1.9 million, while the bungalows w/ guest houses on st. near me are torn down for 2-story mansions w/ ADUs + worth 3 million+.
@DDuzelier31403 I was 13 in '68 and so thankful the song was played many times on U.S. radio. I also bought the 45". Not promoting myself, but I loved the song and weird lyrics so much that I later featured the song's title as one chapter heading in my novel that takes place during that year.
