it probably helped that the messaging was a bit less blatant this time compared to the last two (or at least it seemed that way from the tiny blips I've seen), but it does show how many points they get for points sake and why this won't change for the next editions to come either
sooo what I'm getting from the tl is the jury doesn't even care anymore this year (probably bc the ones who stand with the withdrawn broadcasters are staying far away from this one)

🇧🇪 Belgian broadcaster VRT has called for "a direct vote on which countries participate [at #Eurovision] and a clear stand against war and violence."
If these conditions are not met, "the chances are slim that VRT will send an artist next year."
The New York Times has investigated Israel's Eurovision campaign and the EBU's response. Findings include:
🔹2025 voting data was not fully investigated
🔸Broadcasters faced pressure from the EBU and Israeli diplomats
🔹EBU lawyers stated Israel could have been excluded in 2026
genuine question but rather than limiting votes from 20 to 10 wouldn't it be an idea to either have 1 vote per person/number/device count or have people vote for a top 3 online? or would that complicate the calculation of the votes too much?
🇪🇸 The New York Times has obtained the Spanish televoting percentages from the Eurovision 2025 Grand Final.
Israel received roughly one-third of the televote. According to the NYT, "It would have taken just a few hundred people, voting en masse, to secure [Israel]’s victory."
📡 Ynet reports that the EBU has discussed a proposal to move Israel from the main European contest to Eurovision Asia, which is set to debut this November.
The proposal has met partial opposition from broadcasters that have already confirmed their participation.
not to mention in their statement they basically gave them a loophole to just slightly edit down the same gov sponsored ad by removing the mass voting bit and there won't be an issue anymore even though that still heavily effects votes
📡 Israeli broadcaster Kan has been issued a formal warning by the EBU over Eurovision promotional videos with instructions to vote for Israel ten times.
"Employing a direct call to action to vote 10 times [...] is not in line with our rules nor the spirit of the competition."
wait I didn't know that *was* bc they did the same thing again this time??? they had their chance, they were made aware of the 'new' rules that are enforced this year *mainly* bc of them and they still went ahead and did it so what is there to warn? the campaign launched already
