Most of the Muppets are left-handed because the puppeteers use their dominant (right) hand to work the puppet's mouth; leaving their left hand to move the puppet's left hand.

@danbauman77 Second, when these cuts were still in the offing, I went long on one of WVU’s most esoteric majors: puppetry. This tiny program seems like an easy target for elimination.

But aren't universities meant to be places where quirky disciplines survive?

Things are getting going in front of the student union. Student organizers are wearing red and have encouraged other students to do the same.

Today's Muppet GIF of the Day is dedicated to the memory of Sir Michael Parkinson. Among the thousands interviewed by this iconic British television presenter were Jim Henson and Frank Oz, who brought Kermit, Fozzie and Miss Piggy along with them for a memorable chat in 1978.

Vanessa enjoys spending time with her friend, Brianna Marie Link. Brianna's favorite thing about puppetry is the versatility of the art form; puppetry can vary by style, audience, and story content. #puppetry #puppetshow #puppeteer #puppets #puppettheatre #puppetbuilding #wvu

Meet Vanessa. Vanessa pours her heart and soul into every performance and enjoys mingling with the audience. Be sure to say hello if you see her, she won’t bite (*and if she does, she has all her shots). This production of Hamlet was her idea. #puppeteer #puppetshow #puppets #wvu

Lemyn's right-hand woman (so to speak) is Chelsea J. Elliff. Getting to be involved in the wonder, whimsy, and power of puppetry is Chelsea’s favorite part of the WVU Puppetry Program, and hopes to put more puppets into the world. #puppeteer #puppetshow #puppets #puppettheatre

Lemyn P. Baah. Lemon’s middle name ‘Porkchop' comes from her father (coincidentally it is also her favorite meal) and she hopes to follow in his footsteps to become a famous puppet actor. This production of Hamlet was her idea. #puppeteer #puppetshow #puppets #puppettheatre

Pinky enjoys hanging out with Perry J. Jimenez. Perry enjoys singing, reading, video games, telling jokes, and being a dork. After graduation, he hopes to become a professional Puppeteer in the entertainment industry. #puppetry #puppeteer #puppetshow #puppets #puppettheatre
