States must end the practice of excessive licensure. In 1950 less than 5% of occupations were licensed.
Today it is closer to 30%. The Americans hurt the most by this overreaching regulatory regime are those living on the margins, including returning citizens.
We should all stand united against the use of violent acts like those reported today against political and media figures. I condemn any such acts of violence, they have no place in our politics or society at all.
This afternoon, Republicans and Democrats will vote yes on a nearly $150 billion spending bill loaded with corporate subsidies and nonessential items. Media will largely ignore it. Each side will later disingenuously blame the other for our government’s growing deficits and debt.
Louisianans are resilient, but we need solutions that encourage job growth and strengthen working families. What can WE do to help increase opportunity for Louisiana today? #MotivationMonday

Political history is full of two things...
1. Examples of why stealing from one group of people to enrich another group is a bad idea.
2. A never ending stream of politicians who think it will be different when they try it.
