I learned 4 things today:
1. There is a Transylvania University
2. It is quite old, in fact
3. Their team name is…the Pioneers?
4. And this is their mascot?
Is this a matrix glitch?
The problem is neither the left nor right cares about institutional protections of rights & procedure or constraints on power as a consistent principle. They both are fine trashing all of it in pursuit of their preferred outcomes and at the expense of their disfavored groups.
I have a trace amount of hope that experiencing the Trump 2.0 admin might teach Dems the importance of institutional structure, checks & balances, the notion of a constitution, etc. But something tells me they’ll learn nothing & elect left-flavored Trump in ‘28.
Anthropic now has a team dedicated to AI and the rule of law — and we've just opened our first role.
@AnthropicAI has studied what AI means for the economy. This team asks a different question: what will it mean for executive power, for courts and elections — and for the public deliberation that constitutional democracy ultimately rests on?
We're looking for someone with real depth in both AI and the law — a legal scholar, political scientist, or experienced government hand who can reason about frontier systems and the institutions they will affect.
If that's you, or someone you know: https://t.co/668HDz1lhf
I evacuated to @CityofCS for Katrina, and the school I went to put me ahead like 2 years in school and is probably why I eventually graduated law school.
