Speaker of the TN House Cameron Sexton just removed me and every Democrat — and therefore every Black elected official in the state legislature from any committee we served on.
This move strips nearly 2 million Tennesseans from the representation they deserve in TN state leg.
We’re sharing new evidence in our case against Amazon clearly showing the megacorporation is involved in price fixing.
It’s clear as day: Amazon is colluding with vendors and other retailers to make your life more unaffordable.
We’ll see them in court.
NEW: @LiveNation will pay $9.9 million to DC for charging predatory hidden fees and will be required to display all fees up front in the ticket cost.
This case is separate from our anti-monopoly lawsuit against Live Nation.
We are fighting for fairness for fans on every front.
Some of the best ideas my team has had came from our most junior staffer, Cody. He's a brilliant operative with strong instincts, but he also is less tired, and frankly, jaded than those of us who have been in this for 10+ years.
Empower your Cody, I promise you'll be surprised
An important reminder to Dem Politicos: empower your junior staff to speak up and share their ideas, and--more importantly--actually take the time to *hear* them.
It's time to swing for the fences, but the longer you work in politics the more tired, and cautious, you get (1/5)
In a comprehensive account drawn from interviews with more than 40 people, @S_Fitzpatrick details the unlikely campaign that forced the release of the Epstein files—and explores what it hopes to accomplish next: https://t.co/cb4ONz5nzl
Your junior staff speaking up isn't enough, you need to create a space where it's okay for them to try and fail.
And you need to be willing to check your own preconceived notions. Use your experience to ask questions to make their plan stronger... and sometimes say no!
As insane as this sounds, it’s true: Pam Bondi sent Minnesota officials a letter today saying ICE would leave the state if Minnesota turns over its voter files to the Trump Administration.
They’re openly using state violence as a bargaining chip to seize election infrastructure.
Statement from the family of Alex Pretti, Michael and Susan Pretti:
“We are heartbroken but also very angry.
Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman.
The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed.
Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you”
I've watched thousands of videos from the Jan. 6 riot as part of NPR's reporting and archive project on that day.
Here are some of the lesser known videos that have really stuck with me.
🧵
I just watched the whole 60 Minutes segment on CECOT and Trump that was killed by Bari Weiss and… wow. It was devastating for Trump and highlighted how brutally this regime has treated people. Here are some notes I took:
The average monthly SNAP benefit is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit is up to $550 a person/mo.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
Working people want leaders whose word means something.
AOC’s exactly right here. The takeaway from last night can’t be that Dems need to run candidates like Mamdani everywhere or run like Spanberger everywhere, but that a big tent Democratic Party has to have room for both.
