Without those skills how can we learn a career that we chose.
We use all the skills we learned in school but they are now so automatic we do not realise it

While I believe the Scottish education department is responsible. The SQA is their awarding body that would have devised the recommendations and set the scoring system.

Would be interesting to see who thought a geogrpical handicap was good

Essentially meaning, that one individual has to achieve a higher mark than the other for the same result based purely on postcode.

And you do not see that as an issue.
