@msappel My first day back, I saw someone I hadn’t even been in a meeting with since The Before Times. As we chatted, we each realized we had different pieces of a puzzle that helped each of us with clarity on some issues. Going to the office is annoying, but good.

@msappel Completely agree. In the WFH world, we only interact with those we are working directly with on projects. So much narrower. When I am onsite, I am reminded of how wide my world really can be.

@msappel I think the biggest loss is certainty - everything is uncertain, everything is shifting, we don’t know where our footing is. I think this year could be harder for higher ed because many uncertainties last year could be put off, and this year, the rubber hits the road.

@BMiller_2013 Do you think there will be higher expectations? Or lowered expectations as we all find our new footing? I do think the biggest thing is uncertainty - uncertainty about enrollments, finances, faculty, everything.

(1) Strongly dislike “data-driven” decision-making, preferring “data-informed” decision-making. We have data, so use it. But it’s not the only thing. (2) Love including guts in decision-making, but make sure your guts are experienced, knowledgeable, well-read. #IRWaterCooler

@DrCStGermain (1) I dislike the term “data-driven decision-making,” I prefer “data-informed decision-making.” We have data, so use it. But that’s not the only thing. (2) Love the point on needing broad and deep domain expertise. Guts are useful, but only if drawn on experience/knowledge.
