It seems silly, but it's true: apologize less, thank more. Instead of "Sorry I took so long" say "Thanks for waiting." Instead of "Sorry for whining" try "Thanks for listening." No need to apologize for your needs, being slow, being human, but acknowledging kindness doesn't hurt.
