Today, American University announces that President Jonathan Alger will step down on June 30, 2026, as he prepares to become the inaugural America 250 Fellow, a joint appointment with the American Council on Education (@ACEducation) and the American Association of Colleges and Universities (@aacu). David Marchick (@DeanMarchick), dean of the Kogod School of Business (@KogodBiz), will serve as interim president beginning July 1, 2026.

The peace-sharing program on Tuesday, February 10 will be available via livestream as the Venerable Monks of the Dhammacetiya conclude their 2,300-mile journey to Washington, DC.

Next week, American University welcomes the Venerable Monks of the Dhammacetiya as they conclude their 2,300-mile Walk for Peace from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, DC.

During the peace-sharing program, the monks will be joined by university leadership and spiritual life representatives from Kay Spiritual Life Center for brief remarks and reflection on peace, compassion, and nonviolence.
